00S2 Novel 5 - Finished

Kouryakukan just put up a summary of it. Idk how far I’m gonna get in it before I get too sleepy and go take a nap, and I might skip around depending on how interesting it is. Also, I just remembered that I promised to scan the illustrations from the other 00 novels I have on /m/ like… last week and I forgot to finish it–I’ll do it this weekend.

[EDIT] Highly biased summary of interesting things:

- Ribbons might not be dead!
- 0 Gundam’s GN drive sounds like it’s confirmed to be destroyed
- Billy got sent to a remote research institute because the Federation army didn’t know what to do with him
- Shirin is confirmed pregnant w/ Klaus’ child
- Lots of adorable Patrick x Kati

The subtitle is “rebirth.”
{too lazy to look up the readings for the artists names that I don’t recognize right away so I’ll just go with the descriptions}
The front cover is Setsuna and Ribbons.
On the back is 00 Raiser.

The insert pinup is Reborns Gundam and 0 Gundam.

The reverse of the pinup are the Innovators.

There are a lot of revisions of scenes.
In the scene where Tieria is shot by Ribbons, Tieria complaining to Lockon “I’ve [come] this far” “This is as far as I go” is added.
Descriptions of [characters'] emotions were added and there are unexpected spoilers, so I strongly recommend buying it.
By the way, for some reason there is a 5 page post script too.

A scene of Linda giving Feldt the flower in the case (the one she gave to Setsuna) is added.
There’s a scene where Linda tells Feldt, “I don’t even know it’s name, but it’s a flower often seen in the Middle East” and hearing that , Feldt  associates it with Setsuna.
Looking at the flower, Feldt thinks that white ought to be Setsuna’s color. {could have the nuance wrong, I don’t fully understand what 改めて is doing in this line}
There’s an illustration as well (Feldt blushing)

A scene of Tieria sortieing in GNHW/B.
In the “Guide me… Lockon” scene, Tieria is described, “He prides himself on taking over the dying wish of his comrade who could even be called [his/their?] benefactor who died without completing his life’s ambition. And so, from the bottom of his heart he wished to complete that [ambition]–as a human.”

When Ribbons forcibly reads Regene’s actions, he reads [Regene] thinking the same explanation as in episode 23.

As for Ribbons, at one point Regene’s “slug had destroyed his brain.”

Sumeragi and Kati’s correspondence.
When Kati declares to CB “After this war is over, I’ll pursue you for your crimes again” no one but Sumeragi notices, but , a very tiny, really minute angle of a smile was on her mouth when she said it.

Patrick’s “My Colonellllllll! Don’t touch her!”
“I love you, Kati.”
Patrick’s emotions are greatly expanded upon:

- Patrick resolved to avoid crashing into the warship (the one Kati was riding on)
- Patrick followed her from when Kati participated in the coup. You could say he cooperated with CB, but he was probably [just] happy to follow her.
- “Patrick doesn’t think he is a particularly intelligent human. His pride comes solely from his ability as a pilot. He entrusts decisions to a more learned person. And so he met by chance the only woman who he could entrust those things to.”
- “Protecting the woman who you’ve fallen in love with. Isn’t it the greatest!”
- “Like I said, let’s go together to protect the women we love, you son of a bitch!”
P171 has an illustration of GN-X vs. Gagas.

As for Lyle [when he heard], Ali’s “I’ll kill you again! How’s that, Mr. Gundam!” at the word “again” he got so angry that all his hair stood on end.

Allelujah defending Ptolemy.
“Am I not protecting Marie?  Didn’t I decided to pilot a Gundam like this to keep her far away from fighting? Didn’t I decide to fight so that unfortunate children like us wouldn’t be born?” He regains his fighting spirit by remembering his conviction.

Ribbons and Tieria’s run-in in Veda.
Ribbons though he could never be separated from Veda, thinking of it as part of his own body.

Tieria vs Ribbons
P231: Illustration of the two of them in normal suits
Depictions of Tieria’s feelings and the shooting scene have been added.
Having been struck in the abdomen, feeling something hot, blood pours out toward the door behind Tieria who had been shot in the head , out of time, his lifeless body is thrown against [the door behind him {presumably}].
Tieria’s consciousness floats off and his memories disperse.
Beyond those fading memories, Tieria murmurs to an eye-patch wearing sniper.
“This far. I’ve come this far. This is as far as I go.”
Lockon (Neil) says to that Tieria,
“That’s not it, right?”
“It’s not like this is the end for us. We still have friends. That’s right, Tieria….”
Then Tieria loses consciousness. {pretty sure this is more final than just passing out, I couldn’t think of a better way to phrase it though}

P235-246
Saji and Louise. Lots of additions from Saji’s POV.
Also, Louise’s grip is frightful.
P237: Louise strangling Saji, crushing his adam’s apple.

P251-255
Trans-am Burst release scene.
Additional depictions of Setsuna’s feelings.
Setsuna became and Innovator to change the world and the future.
And, among the GN particles, Setsuna hears Neil’s voice.

Among the high density particles thanks to the Trans-am Burst, Ali’s inner-voice:
“So enjoy yourself more, make me tremble, excite me,  finish me off*! If you that head of yours’ll be crushed just like this!” he sends to Lyle, who roars back “I’ll fucking kill you!” {*it’s a double entendre, tried to make it come across better in English, I’m sure I’ll think of a better(worse) pun on it later}

Hallelujah’s revival.

Veda’s recapture thanks to Regene and Tieria.
Moments before Tieria should have died, his eyes glittered gold. Seeing that, a chill that he’d never tasted up until now ran up Ribbons’s spine.

Having found his way into Veda, Setsuna encounters Tieria’s corpse.
(Corpse is explicitly written)
Setsuna searches for him having heard Tieria’s voice resounding in the room (it isn’t resounding in [Setusna's] brain, it’s described as a sound that propagates through the air, echoing in the room, and stimulates his eardrums), “Where, where are you, Tieria?”
Tieria’s “I think I’m glad to have been an Innovade. Because I could use this ability to save you all.”

Hearing this, Setsuna’s emotions are described, “For the present him (Setsuna), Tieria’s words were easy to understand. Conscious of his own change, if he’s the present Setsuna If he’s the present Setsuna, he’s conscious of his own change.” {still not 100% on this one, but I think this is better–thanks mike_6_s}

Aeolia’s plan is told to Setsuna by Tieria having become part of Veda.
Setsuna, who heard the plan, returned to the 00 and saw Seraphim, “That machine, with no passenger, is standing still in the void of space with both arms outstretched. To protect his comrades.” his emotions overflow, and he calls out “….Tieria.” {now this is getting me choked up}

Details of Hallelujah’s revival and [him] vs Hiling.
Cheridum vs. Revive.
Supersoldier revival. After the battle with the UN forces, it appears that his nerve circuit {?} came under a fog, but it was shaken off and became very clear.
As for Allelujah, when his other personality (Hallelujah) woke up, he felt happy as if he’d become his proper self again, and is scolded by Hallelujah, “Wh~y are you thinking such optimistic thoughts?”
On P327 Arios Gundam isn’t firing it’s guns, but wielding them like clubs and beating the Garazzo’s face in.
“HAHAHAHA! After the right cheek should be the left one, show it!”

What Ribbons needed the original GN drives for was to mass produce genuine Innovators like Setsuna in a closed environment under Ribbons’ control for the dialogues to come.

Setsuna’s consciousness returns after fainting in the battle with Reborns Gundam.
Setsuna reaches out to the flower Feldt gave him, “To have merely prevented just a single flower from dying….” {attempt #2 at this line, assuming すんだ is 済む, could still be totally off base}
He felt that that was more important than anything else.

An episode at rebuilt Azidastan.
- As for Marina, she marched into her own country which had descended into anarchy after the interim government was disbanded, and endeavored to reinstate elections and normalize things.
- She sent a request for formal recognition of autonomy to the Federation government, and announced to the media that she was protected by Katheron.
-  Katheron’s disbandment statement was announced. The members of Marina’s organization were not under suspicion.
- The children who were with Marina were welcomed as symbols of the rebuilding.

P373-375
Depiction of Klaus and Shirin.  They’re elected diet members.
Shirin is pregnant with Klaus’ child.

P378-381
Episodes before and after Kati and Patrick’s wedding.
- When Patrick came back uninjured, everyone was puzzled as to just how he managed to come back alive when they heard.

- Upon hearing that the two of them were getting married, their friends/acquaintances whispered things like: “What kind of joke is this?” “Patrick’s making shit up again, isn’t he?” “That’s pretty tasteless for a joke.”

- Once it became known that their marriage was for real, this time they whispered things like: “Why did Kati decide to get married?” “I guess her maternal instinct was stimulated?” “Isn’t it the same as having a troublesome child you just can’t leave alone?” “No, no, contrary to what you’d expect Kati was completely fascinated by him.”

- Kati was the one who promptly took care of the wedding arrangements, and Patrick “left it to the colonel,” and just moved according to her orders with a smile on his face. {Oh Patrick, that’s so moe}

P382
The Federation Army didn’t know what to do with the former-A-LAWS’ Billy who remained in the Federation Army.
As a result, Billy is at a remote research institution.

P383
The CB crew took the photo of Billy and Sumeragi.
Sumeragi was the one who asked for it.

P389 and on is the Epilogue
Lyle’s grave visit and Allelujah and Marie’s pilgrimage completion.
-  When Al said he wanted to go on a journey, the Ptolemy members tried to get him to change his mind. But, when data on his past was delivered from Veda, he had an uncontrollable desire to see his birthplace and went out on a journey.
(this is a reference to the limited edition complete CD box)

P395-398 is a depiction of Tieria sleeping in Veda.
As for Tieria’s next words, he wants to meet them again, but he hopes that he won’t have to.
(because when they meet again it’s probably a sign that they’ll have to fight)
“Farewell… everyone”

P400-401 is a two page spread.
Setsuna, Sumeragi, Feldt, Millena.
Allelujah, Marie, Lyle before a grave, and a bubbly completely naked Tieria.
(Allelujah and Marie are on their pilgrimage, Tieria has his hands joined in front of his chest)

There was absolutely no description of Ribbons Almark’s death. {FUCK YEAH RIBBONS!}

[Done. I need to go back over it, because I'm sure I made some errors, but I'll do it tomorrow when I can take a fresh look at it--though if anyone sees errors please feel free to bitch at me about them; first round of edits made]
