Nishii: I’m doing some of the key animation for episode 18 and it reminded me that Penguindrum has some actiony parts…Yamauchi Shigeyasu is directing episode 18, so I think it’ll be a pretty unique episode. Please look forward to it.

The DVD is missing the genga collection and the bonus CD. So, OBTAIN THE BLURAY!
Most of the big anime shops are packaging awesome, additional bonus items with it, but they’re pretty much out of reach for us foreigners unless you want to pay stupid sums of money to use a proxy (iirc Toranoana is giving away a hard cover replica of Ringo’s diary + a destiny stamp if you preorder 1-4 :( I wants it). But if you want to support the show, Amazon’s probably your best price right now, the BD’s going for ￥6776 compared to the original price of ￥9240 it’s a pretty decent deal (and if you preorder all 8 at once you can get them shipped to the states for ￥513/ea).
Animedia (sort of) spoilers:
• Shoma will try to part with Ringo after this
• Masako’s going to be doing things the audience couldn’t even imagine from here on, perhaps there’s some incident that will/has shaken Kanba even more?
• Ringo manages to solidify her resolve to break free from the curse of the diary and live out her own fate
• Tabuki and Yuri still have roles to fulfill
• Having given her the medicine, Sanetoshi now holds the key to Himari’s survival, and the balance between the three Takakura siblings begins to crumble
• “If [the show] is a roller coaster, the first half is just the ascent, it gives you time to enjoy the scenery. But, the in the second half… you fall at immense speed (lol). It’s scary and heartrending.”
• The penguins are going to stay silly
I was hoping they’d release Momoka’s diary as it’s own separate item. I would buy it in a second flat. Hopefully they still do?
Also a bit disappointed that we won’t see the Triple H songs until December. :/
Yeah, I think there’s a chance that they’ll put it out as a separate item later though.
On the bright side at least we’re getting the songs (and probably full versions). 2ch thinks it means they’ll be changing the ED a few times in the second half to get some more ARB covers in to justify the album (since right now we’ve only got 3: Rock Over Japan, Daddy’s Shoes and Grey Wednesday)
I didn’t really care for Daddy’s Shoes but I love Grey Wednesday. I hope there is some new stuff like you said. That does seem to be a logical explanation for why the album is so far away though.
I know that’s kinda strange but can you please share penguin background?

It just wasn’t mentioned how many tracks the CD will include… Unless that’s what you meant by “OST tracks weren’t mentioned in the tweet” Disregard me if that’s the case.

Well I am guessing this has already happened in episode 14 (and that spoiler was available before 14 too).
Oh how I wish I could afford to purchase the BR’s (and I don’t even have a BR player but I would love to get it for all the extras). Unfortunately I will just have to hope it gets licensed in the state. But I still might try to get some of the extra “physical” stuff through Yahoo Japan. I use a proxy a lot and it’s not as expensive as you make it sound. :)
Should “許されざる者” be translated as “The Unforgiven”? It seems to be alluding to the movie.
Hm, certainly could be. I think there’s also an element of paralleling with episode 15′s title, 世界を救う者 which we rendered “The Savior of the World” so to preserve that to some extent I thought “The Unforgiven” makes sense.
