Scans/text via /m/. Finished the Mizushima section last night, working on Kuroda’s right now but that might take a bit. There are a few rought spots in this one; I need to go back over it. [EDIT] Just realized the text is incomplete at least for Mizushima’s interview, there are at least three other questions but one of them is partially cut off–I’ll dig around some for the rest of it.

[EDIT] Kuroda interview is mostly done. Been picking at it throughout the day (Kuroda’s a lot harder to follow than Mizushima imo), just one paragraph left. I might get it done before I go to sleep, but I’m not sure. Probably needs a once over badly too.  

[EDIT] Kuroda interview finished. I think I’ll go back over this whole thing when I get a chance, it’s still got some issues. Also, I think I really like Kuroda–he always sounds like he really cares about his work in his interviews (I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but his interview answers tend to sound more personal than Mizushima’s).

Mizushima Interview

––Finally, please tell us something about the movie that’s currently in production.[1]
  It seems like J.J. Abrams did a fantastic job on the Star Trek movie, I feel like I’d like to get a hold of that light-hearted feeling myself. I think it turned out so well because it had exciting elements that even casual fans could enjoy and was full of references and whatnot to delight Trekies as well. I don’t know if we’ll be taking the same course of action, but I think it’ll be enjoyable as a movie on in it’s own right. Although 00 seems to be heading toward the end, [I wouldn't] say that this will close the book on this world–there might still be some surprising and unfinished things left. …You know, that might really piss everyone off.

––You must be really worried about that (lol)
  When I start to think that [going] beyond the story was pointless, it’s missing the point[2]. On the other hand, you could say that it’s another opportunity. There are times that I’d like to put in everything, but you can’t fit it all in a movie. If I tried to put just a little of it in, it would feel superfluous and I don’t want that. Though that isn’t to say that it’s not possible to tell a complete [story] with a movie. With movies, you can depict certain kinds of conclusions perfectly. At the current stage, it’s looking to be about two hours long and I’m already incredibly tired. There are a lot of battle scenes and whatnot (lol). Well, by that I mean I think it’ll turn out to be a film that fulfills the expectations of those who are eagerly anticipating it.

––There are troublesome parts in the content, but?[3]
  Well, because we were always going on about “the dialogues to come,” that’s one area that we absolutely couldn’t not address. Because, things that haven’t been done in Gundam yet always end up getting done eventually. You have to come up with images no one has seen before. But, it should be easy for the people who make Gundam after this. Because everything’s been done already (lol).

Kuroda Interview

––Finally, please tell us something about the movie that’s currently in production.[1]
We’re doing what Mizushima said he wanted to do in preproduction. To tell the truth, when we were working on the second season, I remember [someone?] saying “This is impossible to do in a TV series, but maybe we can end where the director wanted to if we get word of a movie version.” Thankfully a movie version was greenlit, “so, shall we go with that?” [we thought/said]. It seems like we’ll be able to go through with the initial idea in the end and it seems like it’s going well.

––How far along is the scenario so far?
It’s finished. The setting it two years later. It’s not a spin-off, but a direct continuation of the story, in a sense, it’s the magnificent conclusion. I’ve gotten to the point that I’ve written, “I won’t write any more continuations!”

––…You won’t continue?
I can’t continue! (lol) Really, if I think about whether it/I should continue, it/I could continue, but, I’m going to end it when I feel that, emotionally, I can’t write any more. Well, I think certainly everyone’s expectations will be fulfilled to a degree.

––Perhaps, that’s something you want to relate to the fans too I’d think. But, they’re probably thinking to themselves “Is that really Gundam?” [4]
It is Gundam, sorta (lol). If we go with the “Heisei Kamen Rider Series” theory, maybe that’s getting into “Ryuki”s territory.[5] We’re definitely getting into things that isn’t done in Gundam. Already, the instant [new] information is released, I think [Mizushima] and I are treated dreadfully. But, we expect that sort of criticism.

––[The course of] Gundam’s history might change then.
We won’t know until we see how it turns out, I think we shouldn’t narrow the scope of what can be done in Gundam. [We tend] to follow the path restricted by the maniac [fans], but we need to have ideas to widen [that path]. If we don’t steadily increase the maximum permissible amount[6] of Gundam, the content will die. In a hundred years, when they make a [new] “All That Gundam,” I hope at least Exia [gets to] fly through.

––So, [you think] Gundam will still be around 100 years from now.
 In that sense, because I’ve been allowed to make something that will remain in [this] age, I don’t think it’s something to be especially appreciated. Because, even after I die the film will remain, what a wonderful life [I've had], I’m thankful to have been able to be involved with Gundam, and I feel like I’ve achieved something. But, since I’m/it’s not done yet, I want to finish this 00 project neatly, and I hope new Gundam [series] are made following the good parts of systems we’ve developed and revising the bad parts. In ten or twenty years from now when a new Gundam has been made, I’d be deeply moved if it had just a little bit of 00’s essence.

Kamen Rider Ryuki caused quite a stir with fans when it was released. It also caused a bit of turmoil between Toei and Ishinomori Productions (the original creator’s company).

This was because Ryuki was really, really different from the past Rider series. To the point where some fans even said it wasn’t really Kamen Rider at all.

黒田インタ

――最後に、現在進行中の劇場版についてお聞かせください。
　水島監督が企画の初期構想で「やりたい」って言ってたことをやっていま
す。実はセカンドシーズンを
作っているときに、「テレビシリーズでは無理ですが、もし劇場版の話がき
たら監督のやりたかった
着地点にもっていけます」と、言った記憶があるんです。ありがたいことに
劇場版が決まったので、
「じゃあ、それをやりましょうか」と。最初のアイディアを、最後に帰結さ
せることができそうなので、
うまくいったという感触はあります。

――シナリオ作業はどの程度まで進んでいるのでしょうか？
　完成しています。舞台は2年後、スピンオフではなく、純粋な延長線上に
ある物語です、ある意味、
壮大な完結編になっております。もう続きは書けない！っていうところまで
書きました。

――………続かない？
　続けない（笑）！実際は続けようと思えば続けられるんですが、気持ち的
にはもう書けないと思えるぐらいの
終わらせ方をしています。まぁ、ある程度はみなさんが想像しているものが
出てくると思って間違いないです。
「ああ、やっぱりこれをやるのか」と。ずっと言い続けてきたことをやるだ
けですよ。
――多分、それはファンにも伝わっていると思うんですよ。でも、それはは
たしてガンダムになるのか？って
思いを口に出せないんですよ。
　ガンダムですよ、ちゃんと（笑）。「平成仮面ライダーシリーズ」理論で
いくと、「龍騎」の領域に踏み込んで
いるかもしれないですね。ガンダムでやっちゃいけないことに踏み込んでい
るのは確かではあります。
それはもう、情報がカイジされた瞬間に、僕と監督は大変な扱いを受けると
思っています。
でも、それぐらいの批判は覚悟の上です。

――ガンダムの歴史が変わるかもしれませんね。
　蓋を開けてみないとわからないんですが、やる以上ガンダムの幅を狭めて
はいけないと思っているんです。
マニアックな人はそれを狭めていく方向性にいくんですけど、僕たちは広げ
ていく考えをもってないといけない。
ガンダムっていう作品の許容量をどんどん増やしていかないと、コンテンツ
が死んでしまう。100年ぐらいたって
「ALL THAT GUNDAM」が作られたときに、せめてエクシアは飛んでいて欲しいですね。
　そういう意味では、時代に残るものを作らせてもらえているわけですから
、こんなにありがたいことはない
と思います。自分が死んでもフィルムは残るわけですから、なんていい人生
なんだろうと、ガンダムに
関われたことに関しての感謝もありますし、達成感もあります。でも、まだ
終わっていないので、
この「00」プロジェクトをきれいに終わらせて、自分たちが構築したシステ
ムのいいところを踏襲し、
悪いところを修正しながら、新しいガンダムを作ってほしいです。10年後、
20年後に新しいガンダムが
作られたとき、「00」のエッセンスがちょっとでもあったら、感激ものです
よね。

#005 “Katharon”
Doctor Terishira watches over the battle between the Federation and Katharon.
Before his eyes, his twin* Sulu struck down enemy MSs one by one. {*lit. “same type/pattern” it sounds horrible in English so I’m going w/ twin}

Meanwhile, Leif was securing Brun’s cooperation and heading to the Gundam he had summoned.
Leif vaguely understands that he has to remove the limiter on [Brun's?] special Innovade abilities. {not so sure about this sentence}
That is, the limiter put on [Innovades] so that they can live in human society.

The scene returns to Katharon. Lars attacks them while they’re resting after dealing with the first wave of the fight with the Federation.
Lars aims and shoots only at the Innovades.
“Pretend humans have no right to live,” Lars declares
And Terishia objects, “Is there such thing as a life without merit!”
Terishira shields Brad, an Innovade, from a bullet with his body.
Sulu rushes over to Terishira, whose life was saved by a bulletproof vest.
“Same face…”
Terishira hastily lies, “My sister! I’m your older brother!”
Moved, Sulu embraces him.

At that time, Leif finally reaches the Gundam he saw in his dream, “1 Gundam.”
“What are you going to do with such a dangerous thing?”
Hixar Fermi appeared.
Leif explained that he was on a mission.
“Won’t you tell me about that mission? Beside Pain.”
Hixar [said and] turned his gun on Leif.

As far as models go, an MG GN-X was announced. {pretty sure everyone’s already seen this}

At the New Year’s Eve event a special animation with new scenes will be screened. {presumably for the movie, not the SEs}

This month includes 00N’s prologue.
P136-141 Beginning with staff comments from Director Mizushima, and explanation of 00N which will be serialized from here on.

00N is without a specific protagonist, or a single overarching story.
It depicts events in the world of “Gundam 00″ without [following] a timeline or prescribed [order].

Hobby Japan:

The new series “00V War Chronicle (senki)” starts this month.

The title of the first installment is “Gun x Sword”
*No relation to the anime of the same name.

The story takes place after the last episode [of the series]. A certain project is progressing at Jupiter,
and Ian is working on new Gundams near Earth.
The 00 is also being modified to suit Setsuna, having awoken as an Innovator.

But, presently CB is low on both materials and funds, so Ian’s having a hard time.
Upon asking Veda!Tieria about it, he thought about trying to manipulate stock prices, but
if he over did it, they’d be reduced to a “simply criminal organization.”
Presently, only one GN Drive has been transplanted into the 00 from one of the other units. {forgot the last part :\}
A GN condenser is taking the place of the other drive.
While the 00 can start up, Trans-am is impossible.
And so a test of the “00 Gundam Seven Sword/G” armament was undertaken.
The new equipment being the GN Sword II Buster Blaster. {I’m being more of a dumbass than usual today}
“An enemy”
An approaching GN-XIII./A GN-XIII approaches.
“They might have seen that beam from earlier. I’ll destroy it.”
Setsuna destroys the enemy craft with the GN Sword II Buster Blaster.
They can manage combat for the time being, but Ian is fully aware of the fact that they need to hurry and develop new machines.

*They casually establish that in the finale of the TV series, they lost at least two GN drives.

[EDIT] k, so apparently the origin of that last line isn’t clear, anything by an asterisk like that (that doesn’t correspond to some sort of note I’m making on the side) is one of kouryakukan’s comments. While it certainly means that the statement isn’t 100% true/reliable, remember that the above is just a summary so it’s possible that the text has more details to further support the statement that s/he left out for brevity’s sake. I believe the missing drives were the two that belonged to the 00 in S2 (i.e. Exia’s and 0 Gundam’s) because of the phrasing here: “Presently, only one GN Drive has been transplanted into the 00 from one of the other units.” Shit, I left off that last part… fixing. Anyway, I think because they had to snag a drive from one of the other Gundams neither of the 00’s original drives survived (sure, you could argue that Exia R2 is a different unit, but I think it’d be phrased differently if they replaced the one from the Exia). Also it’s the 00, as in 00 Gundam, not the Qan[T].

Feldt is Cinderella, Setsuna is the prince Setsuna was going to be the prince but was replaced by Lyle because he’s too short {derp, this is what I get for not reading the whole thing}, H/Allelujah and Milena are the sisters, Tieria is the evil step mother, Saji is the carriage attendant, Haro is the pumpkin, etc. LET THE FELDT/SETSUNA RAGE BEGIN ANEW!
- One of Tieria’s lines made me lol: “Even though I said I’d never wear women’s clothes again…. I guess I don’t have a choice…”
-  Both NT and Animage list some new cuts, but kouryakukan neglected to write any specifics/hasn’t gotten to it yet

Pretty derp imo, unless Iketani said other shit about the trailer and kouryakukan just didn’t feel like mentioning it. Though it’s nice to see confirmation that we will be getting trailers with SE2&3. SE2 is due out around xmas btw.

[EDIT] Short version of the interesting/new stuff as far as I’m concerned:

- Wang’s lost all her money by some point after ep 17.
- Marina’s song got on the radio because a soldier happened to hear it, decided to record it and sent it to a radio station.
- Lyle is a massive faggot and saw Anew’s gold eyes multiple times and noticed that they always got attacked a few hours after it happened, but he still NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO HIS COMRADES.
- When Revive is captured, Hiling decides that, once they’re done unifying the world, she’ll ask Ribbons to build a useless facility near the North Pole and have Revive demoted to a position there. (I would pay to see the scene of her imagining this in the SE)
- Anew didn’t shoot Feldt because Anew’s a female model and has an unconscious aversion to harming members of the same sex.
- Tieria honed combat, MS development and general battleship operation skills during the timeskip (hence why he’s a competent pilot for Ptolemy among other things)
- Nena gets sliced in half by the Regenant’s claws.
- Susano-o’s swords, Shiranui and Unryuu, were built with some components from Masurao’s beam sabres named Howard and Daryl {corrected because I’m not up on my gunpla box info}

Considering the new Alejanrdo/Ribbons scenes in the SE, I decided to scan my Ribbons doujin. It’s like 80 pages so it took fucking forever to scan. There was a short fanfic section at the end; I skipped it because I was tired of scanning things.

ITD: Ribbons angsts about Alejandro (who is decidedly less gay in this doujin than he is in cannon now) not paying enough attention to him. Then he tries to get it on with a servant to get back at Alejandro (or something like that, idk I haven’t actually read the whole thing yet), but gets cold feet half way through. Alejandro walks in and is pissed then he and Ribbons make up and sex.

And on a related note, I had a paper due today, so I didn’t have time to get the doujin sales post up this weekend–it’ll be up soon-ish though (if/when we find a raw for the SE that might eat up my free time for a bit so idk when I’ll get around to it exactly, but soon).
