FUCK YEAH THIS EPISODE.

Fuckdamn, those were some awesome fights. The lack of Blast Sword is still bugging me but at least Gourry has some kind of sword that isn’t total fail. It looks like they saved most of the budget for this ep. HOLY SHIT ABEL’S FATHER IS ZUUMA?! (did we know this already and I just wasn’t paying attention?) ;_; 

But the insta-Ragna Blade was kinda lame (half the fun of the spells is the incantations). HOSHI- XELLOS CONE!

Finally got caught up with Evo-R today. This batch of episodes made me realize that I’m pretty sure I like Pokota now. WHY DO I LIKE POKOTA NOW?!

Xellos took his sweet time appearing this season. I guess that’s partly contributing to the feel that Evo-R is more like the old series than Revolution was. I think I must have missed an episode or two in the middle of R somewhere because it never felt that cohesive, at least Evo-R is starting to make plot progress finally. I think I’m inclined to agree with /a/ when they say that it reminds them of Next.

The battle scenes in 7 were pretty fucking awesome, but I wasn’t expecting it to cut off where it did after all the stuff /a/ was going on about earlier on Sunday. Oh well, next week should be pretty interesting if the manga is any indication.

HOW COULD YOU DO THAT EVOLUTION-R?! BREAKING THE EPISODE 17 TRADITION, YOU FUCKERS!

Another filler episode this week as per tradition. Amelia-Nama hijinks this time. I’ve gotta admit, watching Slayers one episode per week is really weird. Anyhow, Amelia’s hero-of-justice episodes never really appealed to me (there were a couple decent ones where other things were going on–like that one where Amelia ends up fighting Zelgadis at the end, because the townspeople think he’s a devil). I dunno, never been much of an Amelia fan–Lina was always my favorite after all. There was a little backstory though that was kinda nice. Zelgadis’ commentary during the final battle of the episode was pretty hilarious. And Gourry’s been suspiciously astute these last couple episodes. 

I also noticed some newer music that they seem to be incorporating into the show that I don’t really remember being in Revolution (might have been there and I just didn’t catch it–it seemed like they tried to keep mostly with the old soundtrack last time), it’s nice. The old music is good for some things but it gets kinda old if it’s all the same stuff. 

WHY IS NEXT WEEK A FISH EPISODE?! D:

This week’s incident involves a headless walking suit of armor (incidentally not Nama) wreaking havoc on a small town along with zombies and other stuff. Naturally the team thinks he’s related to Rezo’s jar thing. They have a pretty nice team attack sequence this week. Probably would have looked nicer in a better raw (I dunno, I just grabbed the one with the biggest file size assuming it would be the highest quality and it’s pretty shitty looking still). Anyway, headless armor guy isn’t as bad as everyone thinks. He’s got some kind of jar in his castle that everyone thinks might be the Rezo jar (obviously it’s not, this is only episode 2).

FFFFFFF one of Hanz’s enchanted armor friends sounds like Lindt. 

Zel has a pretty lulzy scene in which he blushes whines “I-I’m not a monster! Stupid Rezo!” and runs away like a little girl. Ahahahaa…. This little hissyfit seems to have put him out of commission for the rest of the episode. PRICELESS. Zelgadis is an Allelujah. 

Turns out that Hanz’s enchanted armor-leader-guy was the one who stole his head because he’d lost his head. And the jars were of course not what everyone thought they were. Anyhow, pretty decent for a non-plot episode.

New OP’s pretty awesome. They’re pursuing the whole Ozel Rezo plot from last season as expected. Pokota called Xellos “Mr. That’s-a-secret” at one point. Ozel’s serving that ninja swordsman guy from last season, whatever his name was apparently.

So the quest of the moment is looking for that pot it seems. In searching for it they run into some weird enchanted talking armor. Lina blows it up when it does a Naga laugh. Woah is that actually Naga? I dunno I’m so confused, it doesn’t really sound like her aside from the laugh–er, well now it does (she keeps switching voices). This is what I get for watching it in the background while discussing fake 00 spoilers. 

So Lina and Armor-maybe-Naga fight as one might expect. Which ends in a Dragon Slave according to tradition. 

OH SHIT I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING–THE ARMOR LOOKS LIKE  THE GADESSA! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

ED’s nice too. 

Really looking forward to this season. And ep 4 should be the crossdressing episode if they don’t want to break tradition (FUCKERS BETTER NOT Slayers is all about tradition/formula)
